“He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7)
I love how Jesus levels the playing field everywhere he goes.
Which one of us can cast the first stone?
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. (1John 1:8)
Today in our reading Jesus said,
“You will know the truth and the truth will make you free.” (John 8:32)
The truth is, sometimes we make mistakes, we mess up, we don’t always make the best choices, we have complicated relationships, we get angry or jealous, we say things we shouldn’t etc… we all do it, we all sin.
The truth is also, sometimes we are awesome. Sometimes we do great things, we pass the test, win the prize, wear the crown, we live and love like Jesus.
We are all a part of this beautiful messy thing called humanity, loved to our very innermost being by our Creator, just the way we are, on our good and bad days. This is the truth that sets us free. We are loved beyond comprehension regardless of our performance.
